Summer Camp is an important part of the Scouting calander.  It give us the opportunity to put into practice the skills we have learnt in our meeting halls.  It also give us the opportunity to try out new activities and experiment with ideas, but it also gives us time to spend together in the outdoors and just have a great time.

Looking back on the Long Whatton Summer Camps, has made me come up wth a few ideas for the future.  The future needs to involve Gilwell Park and Brownsea Island again, so the next generation can experience the History of Scouting, and we have not yet managed to find a good 'by the sea' campsite yet.

Summer Camps over the years have ranged from 1to 18 days, (One night, now we have Beavers to think about).  We went through a stage of summer camps that were two weeks long and I think the Wales trip should perhaps be two weeks. We shall see!

With 2017 being the 10th Anniversary of our Exchange with our German Friends we may put Wales back to 2018 and try to recreate Summer Camp 2007!
